Is Upwork or Freelancer Better?

When it comes to choosing the right platform for freelancing, the two most popular options are Upwork and Freelancer.

com. Both of these platforms offer a variety of services and features, but which one is better? From my experience, I found Upwork clients to be more reliable, pay better and are more likely to offer long-term gigs than Freelancer.com clients.

When it comes to fees, Upwork charges a service fee of 20% for the first $500 billed with a client, and 10% for total billings with a client over $500. This might seem like a lot, but you won’t have to pay extra for added features like portfolio creation, time tracking, and payment protection. Freelancer.com, on the other hand, charges a 3% service fee for all transactions, plus additional fees for added features.

Upwork also offers a variety of payment options, including PayPal, credit cards, and direct deposit. Freelancer.com only offers PayPal and credit cards. Additionally, Upwork offers a variety of payment protection options, such as the ability to dispute payments and the ability to place funds in escrow. Freelancer.com does not offer these options.

Finally, Upwork has a more user-friendly interface and offers more tools and resources to help freelancers succeed. Freelancer.com is more limited in this regard.

Overall, from my experience, Upwork is the better option for freelancers. The clients are more reliable, pay better, and are more likely to offer long-term gigs. The fees are higher, but you won’t have to pay extra for added features. Additionally, Upwork offers more payment options and protection, as well as a more user-friendly interface and more tools and resources.
