Which Goes First: Face Oil or Moisturizer?

When it comes to skincare, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of which should go first: face oil or moisturizer? The answer depends on the type of product you’re using and the condition of your skin.

As a general rule of thumb, however, all skincare should be applied thinnest to thickest, so moisturizer should always be applied first, followed by facial oil.

When it comes to moisturizers, there are a variety of different types, from light lotions to heavy creams. If you’re using a light lotion, it should be applied first, followed by a facial oil. If you’re using a heavier cream, you may want to apply the oil first, as this will help to lock in the moisture from the cream.

When it comes to facial oils, there are also a variety of different types, from lightweight oils to heavier oils. Lightweight oils should be applied after your moisturizer, as they will help to seal in the moisture from the moisturizer. Heavier oils should be applied first, as they will help to protect your skin from the elements and provide an extra layer of hydration.

One exception to the rule of applying moisturizer first and facial oil second is our Antioxidant Oil-Serum. This product has both oil and serum properties, so it can be applied before, after, or in place of your moisturizer.

No matter which order you choose to apply your skincare products, the most important thing is to make sure you’re using the right products for your skin type. If you’re not sure which products are best for you, consult with a skincare professional for personalized advice.

By following the general rule of applying skincare thinnest to thickest, you can ensure that your skin is getting the most out of your skincare routine. Remember, moisturizer should always be applied first, followed by facial oil, with the exception of our Antioxidant Oil-Serum, which can be applied before, after, or in place of your moisturizer.
